What is Table Hockey?

A true reduction of ice hockey, table hockey replicates all the excitement of the sport played on ice: the face-offs, the passing, the shooting, and the speed – all on a board the size of a kitchen table. From the 1930s to the late 80s, children delighted in finding a table hockey game under the X-mas tree. Constructed out of tin and plastic, the games were flimsy and would quickly warp, but they were still loved. Coleco made the most popular version sold in North America until going out of business. Today, table hockey is having a resurgence with highly sophisticated games hand-made by entrepreneurs in the US and Canada. People of all ages compete in leagues and tournaments on these finely tuned games. Check out the premier table hockey games featured in LITTLE RINK at SohoTableHockey.com.

“Table Hockey is chess played at 700 miles per hour. It’s not going to resolve all the world’s problems, but it will do some good where some good needs to be done.”

Lou Marinoff, Table Hockey Champion and Professor of Philosophy at City College.
